Alright, so I've fifty-thousand things I'd like to say and not enough time to say them in, but here it goes!

So, I discovered this gem of a fic about maybe three months ago, added it to my browser bookmarks for later, and told myself I'd come back to it once I'd finally played or read anything from the Witcher series. Then, last week, I became sick (strep throat can eat it, I'm in the middle of midterms at uni) -- enough that I had to stay home and rest for two days + the weekend. And as is habit, I started exhausting everything in my reading bookmark that I hadn't had a chance to check out or catch up on recently. Cue me finding this fic on the list again.

I still haven't checked out anything Witcher-related, so I almost put it to the side again -- probably would have, too, if I hadn't read the first two chapters.

It was all down hill from there.

I consumed this entire fic on Saturday. The whole thing. As soon as I started, I couldn't stop. Then I melodramatically lamented getting to the end of chapter 26, because at the moment, there was no chapter 27. (Which btw was unacceptable because how dare you end it on that kind of cliffhanger??? Tenshikyo, pls. I was so distraught! He'd caught her in the middle of sexy shenanigans, and this is where it stops? I WAS SO HYPED.) And you, you wonderful person, you. Do you know what you did?

Updated literally the next day.
I clapped
I cheered
I coughed a lot after the cheering because the feels were too much

So then I get to the 27th chapter and it's...just everything I was hoping for. There was all the sexiness, and then you had to go and bring the love into it, and good lord but my feelings! I am so happy for Iorveth and Gwen right now~!

Anyhow, my overwhelming feels aside, important bits I wanted to comment on:

- A+ representation of a relationship navigating past trauma + mental health struggles. Speaking from some personal things, this was what most sold me on your fic. You don't rush the relationship with Gwen. You don't make her immediately likable, you don't make Iorveth some magic cure that "fixes" everything, and you don't just mention the trauma + fallout once and then never address it again. It's not easy to pull the heavy stuff off, especially in a story with a serious romantic element; a lot of people would relegate it to the background because of that difficulty. But you bring it out, and you write it with the compassion and seriousness I appreciate in fic. So, first and foremost, thank you for this, for making Gwen a character who articulates these experiences in ways I empathize with only too well.

- Nice job keeping Iorveth in character, at least from my angle. I kinda binged a walkthrough of some of his path in W2 after reading this fic, and his in-game character matched up with who I'd first met on the page. I'm all sorts of curious about how you'll tackle game-related content as the fic goes on!

- You're great with side characters. Even I struggle with juggling multiple perspectives + characters when writing, but you do it well, and you make them memorable. (Ivor is a babe, btw~)

- Aaaaaand your narrative flows wonderfully. I was never kicked out of the fic when reading due to confusion or randomness, and you've got me fully immersed. That's hard to do when you're writing chapter-by-chapter, especially when it's fandom, so all the kudos to you.

And, well, this is already a wall of text, so I'll stop myself now lol. I have fallen in love with this story and I can't wait to see where this goes next! You've also pretty much pushed me into Witcher fever, so thanks for officially getting me into a new fandom. I'll be buying Assassins of Kings asap!

Author's Response: Holy shit, this review made me so happy :'D I almost didn't open it because I thought it was going to be spam, but I opened it anyway and I'm glad that I did! Also, sorry for the late response. I hope you've gotten better in the meantime, though secretly I'm also a bit happy that you got sick to begin with, otherwise you might not have read this story so soon :'3 But yay, I'm so glad to hear you liked it this much! To have read it all in one day... Damn, I feel so honoured right now. That cliffhanger worked for myself as well, because it made me extra motivated to get this chapter out there as soon as possible, even though it was a tough job (you see, sex scenes are a bit of my weakness, I think). Thank you very much for telling me that you think I've managed to handle Gwen's trauma well. That really was one of the things I was/am struggling with, because on the one hand I feared it might get annoying/repetitive if I kept on bringing it up. And then this sex scene, together with her horniness because of her period, I was even more anxious because I feared I might not do justice to everyone who has suffered something similar, since someone out there might be able to see it as a kink, or something. Or that it was weird to place it so soon after another of her breakdowns about lust and whatnot. Even though it did fit her personality and character, no matter what others would think about it. But either way, I'm still very happy to hear that I've done this bit right after all! Ohhh I also feel honoured that my Iorveth is the first Iorveth you got to see :'D He can be a real bitch sometimes though, where I don't know what I'm supposed to do with him. Though I suppose that's part of the challenge, right? It's funny that Ivor is slowly but surely becoming everyone's favourite XD I even wrote a smut scene between Iorveth and him which can be found on AO3 and ff.net, because a friend requested it for her birthday. But I tried my best to make them all realistic and unique as well, and so I guess I managed to succeed :'D Yay~ More Iorveth love if you go buy The Witcher 2~ You have come at a bad time, though, because I probably won't have time to update before Nanowrimo starts next month :'3 Still, I'm so very grateful for your long and lovely review! (I love walls of text. They give me the excuse to gush back to my readers :'D)

Ohhhhhh I'm actually thoroughly enjoying this.

It's truly been a while since I've played Witcher 2, but from what I remember you've got the characters and world/setting down pretty good.

I'm honestly looking forward to where this story leads to in the future. :)

Author's Response: Yey, thanks for the review :D Glad to hear that everyone is in character ^^ I've been struggling with Iorveth, being the son of a bitch that he is. And I hope you'll enjoy what is to come~

Was not expecting an update so soon. :D

It's compelling to see Iorveth realize that elves can be just as prejudice as humans when it comes to many things.

I think Gwen really opened his eyes.

Author's Response: I'm trying to get as much written as possible before school starts again, so I hope y'all enjoy the speed updates while they last~ I know right?! That's one of the best parts about paring Iorveth with a half-elf, especially one that is as angry as he is. But his eyes are not quite open yet, we all know how stubborn he can be. Let's hope he can open hers as well, eh? xD

Ooh, already I'm really excited to see where things go. Hopefully Gwen will find someone who treats her well :3 I like how fiesty she is despite being a prisoner. This was a great chapter! :D

Author's Response: Haha, you are not the only one, believe me! I have no clue where my mind will lead me with this story, so I guess we'll all just have to wait and see XD And feisty is Gwen's second name, so stay tuned for more... feistiness? Thank you very reviewing~! :3

Oh ho! A Witcher (fanfic)! I admit I've only really started playing the Witcher 2 and am still in Flotsam but I could still follow this fic. (I really need to get playing it some more so I don't accidently spoil myself.) Iorveth is a interesting characterthough from what I've briefly seen. I'd definately be interested in reading this fic! It's really well written :3

Author's Response: Then I guess it's time to get moving! ;D But I think it'll take a while before we get to the events of the Witcher 2, and even then most things will proba stay behind the scenes of the game, so there's no reason to worry just yet. Though you should still play more of it just for Iorveth~! Thank you very much for the review, and I hope you'll hang around to enjoy more Iorveth-love! :'D

Oooo, a great start. I hope you continue this!

I'll read anything Witcher, especially if it has Iorveth in it. :3

Gotta love them Squirrels.

Author's Response: Oh wow, now this really surprises me! A review, and so soon after posting!!! *does a happy dance* Thank you very much~ And I'll try my very best to not let this story die before finishing it. For the Squirrels!
