I can't believe that's actually a thing. Wow.
This whole time I have been under the impression that we can make our own rules since, ya know, FANFICTION.
Author's Response: I know, right? That's why this hadn't really been a big enough deal to me until someone wanted me to write it. People need to realize that just because a story, fan fiction or original story, may have a low quality or rating, doesn't make it any less valid to write to the writer; and that there's a critical difference between having a disagreeing opinion and being controlling in their review.

Oh wow, you have great advice! I'm going to start reading your other works/guides. You sure have inspired me to pick up my "lost" story...Thank you for these.
I kinda needed a "dummies guide" LOL
Author's Response: Thank you, although I would still consider my advice with a grain of salt. I don't get paid to write, nor do I get paid to learn the rules of literature (but I do try my best to research fiction for these guides). I'm also happy to hear that this was written clearly since I have this knack for writing something down, thinking that it's clear, and then it's not. And thank you for writing "Dear Fan Fiction Authors . . ." It touched me in more ways than you can imagine.
